Watermelon Tourmaline Hoops

These silver hoops have a life of their own: as you walk, a small raw watermelon tourmaline crystal sways suspended at the bottom of the hoop, catching the light with every movement. A double-hoop design, with small spherical rivets that give the piece texture and rhythm.

The tourmaline crowning these earrings comes from the mountains of Nuristan, Afghanistan — specifically from the Paprok region, known for its high-altitude pegmatites, rock formations that make their way through remote, hard-to-reach slopes. There, local miners extract the stone in an artisanal way, often by hand, in one of the most isolated gemological areas in the world.

Its name comes from its color: a pink center that fades into a greenish edge, just like the flesh and rind of a watermelon. That contrast arises over time, as the manganese and lithium present in the rock tint the crystal in layers, layer by layer, as it grows.

Traditionally, watermelon tourmaline is associated with emotional balance: it is said to help unite heart and mind, bringing calm and serene joy.
